A month since my last review still no resolution
A month since my last review and made pretty much no progress.

The incompetence throughout Hive home is a disgrace. Despite all these escalations I still have to give them the same info over and over and constantly chase replies.

I will leave as many bad reviews as I can until they start getting their act together and fix my issues. Nothing should take more than a year to resolve

Utterly disgusting company
As others have said I am utterly disgusted with their decision to basically turn off my Hive camera and render it inoperable at their whim. I don't buy their excuses and they should abide by consumer law, which states that a product should last for a reasonable length of time, they are actually purposely stopping it from working! I have a house full of Hive rad valves controllers, stats etc and wouldn't recommend them to anyone, or their parent company British Gas who I changed as soon as I moved in to my new home. There stock answer is a disgrace and I would remind Hive that their own T&C's state: • up to six years: if the item can be expected to last up to six years you may be entitled to a repair or replacement.
I suggest everyone complains to Trading Standards as this IMO breaks consumer law as well as their own T&C's.

Having fully immersed myself into the hive ecosystem imagine my disappointment when I discovered this week that I am no longer going to have my very expensive outdoor cameras supported by the company after 2025. I have read the rhetoric from Hive saying that they will be decarbonising the country with their wonderful products but I can safely say that I will not be part of that because they have demonstrated that they will turn their back on their products and indeed their customers at a drop of a hat and on that basis how on earth can I trust them and throw any more money in their direction? If the company believes so much in their green credentials then they really should have refunded or given vouchers to their loyal customers by way of compensation for them wasting their money. The bit that I find particularly laughable is the way that they think that having literally thousands of customers throw away in landfill perfectly good electrical items is not exactly in keeping with this so-called Green agenda and they have made it abundantly clear that the disposal of their products is the responsibility of their customer and not the company who have effectively turned their products into scrap. Shame on you hive and shame on British Gas you have really demonstrated the contempt by which you treat your customers and I really hope that this spectacular own goal comes back to bite your company very hard!

PS please don’t bother sending your canned meaningless response, if you want to quell my disappointment do the decent thing and arrange a proper returns scheme followed by a refund your customers and prove how committed to recycling you really are….

I suggest that anyone considering to purchase a Hive product should look for an alternative elsewhere, unless you want to risk your purchase ceasing to function - not because of a device malfunction, but because of Hive’s decision to no longer support the product.
This is what has happened to loyal Hive customers who purchased security and leak detection devices. Their devices will cease to function from 1 August 2025, plus Hive is refusing to compensate them for causing their devices to become obsolete.

Completely untrustworthy. You invest in their products expecting them to enjoy a reasonable life, then they just cull them at whim. Do not buy from this company when there are others who care about their customers.

Hive Outdoor Camera Support.
Hive have announced that they are turning off support for these expensive cameras in 2025. Yet, their Ts&Cs state 6 years support. Getting any form of response from them is impossible. Do not buy any Hive product - expensive and no guarantee that you arent wasting your money.

The response from Hive below is amazing. I posted this review AFTER speaking to support who stated that electronic devices should only last 2-3 years like your phone. I repeat - steer clear!

Plenty of alternatives who won’t abandon you.
As you can probably see from all the other reviews, Hive has completely abandoned its security range and asked customers to bin their £180 camera. This has been labeled as a sustainable move which makes no sense whatsoever. If you’re thinking of buying a Hive product I strongly advise you not to, if they can do this to many of its existing customers, they will definitely do it again. Hive was a reputable company and the older reviews show this but unfortunately, they have made a brand-destroying decision which will inevitably be the demise of Hive.

Message to hive: don’t insult me with your copy and paste nonsense reply like you have other reviewers.

Hive - Very Expensive Letdown
Bought a hive outdoor camera 7 months ago and paid over £200 for installation, I received an e-mail last week to say they were not supporting the camera after 1/8/25,don’t waste your time with Hive it’s a very expensive letdown ?

I like everyone else is very disappointed with the hive attitude to not offer any compensation and are completely negative. I’ve been playing email ping pong with them for days and getting no where. Absolutely disgusting attitude to customer service.
Then guess what? Both my cameras have the white flashing light and I’m now no longer to even get them to connect to the hub. Coincidence or?? Who knows.

I've seen the other reviews regarding your termination and quite frankly it is disgusting I've only had them for 9 months, and I will never buy a Hive product again, so you can go all green, with what good it will do. You should be offering refunds.

You don't even have the decency to reply personally just reusing prescripts that have been written by your marketing team.

BLATENT GREENWASHING IMO
BLATENT GREENWASHING - Hive (Centrica / British Gas) claim that discontinuing support for their home security products will help with their drive to 'net zero' by enabling them to concentrate on home energy products. This is rich, given the Hive parent company Centrica is one of the largest financial beneficiaries of the global increase in wholesale gas prices. Your talk of driving to net zero is all nonesense Hive, we should see it for what it is: Financial Engineering on a huge scale aimed at rinsing the wallets of customers frightened by the energy cost crisis. Similar to the soon to become obsolete Hive home security products and destined for landfill, ask yourself just how much money will an expensive Hive thermostat etc save compared to turning the existing thermostat down or even off (remembering to leave the boiler frost protect switch on). And, how can Hive be relied on to maintain support before superceding these heating products.

This review was posted in response to my receipt of a phone call today from Hive advising that although I had purchased my most recent Hive camera less than 12 months ago, I would not be offered compensation! Shame on you Hive for such derisory performance.

In summary: Hive a 'Not so Smart' smart home product company.

Shambolic - Don’t care about customers
Disgraceful company - don’t have anything to do with them. Like lots of others I wasted money on buying hive indoor and outdoor cameras and the expense of having them installed. I have now had an email from them talking rubbish about them discontinuing support for these products and turning them
off to help them be green?! Well you’ve turned me green with anger…… Perhaps hive would like to refund the money I’ve wasted with them so I can go and buy a product from a company which cares about its customers? My indoor camera has already stopped working and got a white ring on it - they are totally not interested in helping. I have jettisoned my accounts with British Gas and their laughable homecare as clearly Centrica as a business just don’t care. Please don’t bother putting your generic response to this and insulting peoples intelligence any further. I’ll be reporting hive / centrica to trading standards. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY with these fraudsters.

I also got the generic response after writing the above - does Hive/ Centrica really think customers will ever entertain buying anything from you ever again - it’s your Ratner moment. Look at this through the eyes of the customer and stop talking claptrap about net zero….you know it means nothing and you are totally avoiding the issue of why you think it’s good customer service to charge for a product and then totally disregard your own T&Cs and remove that product / support. I have been in contact with hive ‘chat’ about my camera which suddenly stopped working…..they say they have to refer it to a camera dept….and they’ll ring me back……in the next 3 days……?

Shocking company
Shocking company. Shutting down support for its home security tech and leaving customers with useless devices starting end of this year through to 2025. It will all just 'stop working'. Beware buying anything from this company.
